This part of NL ISO 6743 establishes the detailed classification of family A (Total loss systems) which belongs to the class L (Lubricants, industrial and related products). It should be read in conjunction with NL 202: 1999.

Lubricants, industrial oils and related products (class L) -- Classification -- Part 3: Family D (Compressors)

This part of ISO 6743 establishes the detailed classification of lubricants for use in family D, air compressors, gas compressors and refrigeration compressors. The intention of this part of ISO 6743 is to provide a rationalized range of the most commonly used internationally available lubricants for air, gas and refrigeration compressors, without resorting to unnecessary restriction by specifications or products description. The primary intention of this classification is to describe and promote the use of the type of lubricant which is best suited for the particular application, specifically with stationary air compressors, with the aim of reducing as far as possible the risks of fire and explosion. Relevant safety rules are given in ISO 5388. ISO 5388 as published in 1991 should be revised to reflect the change from light, medium and heavy duty cycles to normal and severe duty cycles as described in this edition of ISO 6743-3. This part of ISO 6743 should be read in conjunction

Lubricants, industrial oils and related products (class L) -- Classification -- Part 4: Family H (Hydraulic systems)

This part of ISO 6743 establishes the detailed classification of fluids of Family H (Hydraulic systems) which belong to class L (Lubricants, industrial oils, and related products). It is intended to be read in conjunction with ISO 6743-99. This classification system does not include automotive brake fluids or aircraft hydraulic fluids.

Lubricants, industrial oils and related products (class L) -- Classification -- Part 5: Family T (Turbines)

This part of ISO 6743 establishes the detailed classification of fluids of family T (Turbines) that belong to class L (Lubricants, industrials oils and related products). It is intended to be read in conjunction with ISO 6743-99[2]. This classification excludes the products intended for aircraft turbines. However, some aircraft turbines can find land application for power generation. For the lubrication of such turbines, it is recommended that the manufacturer’s recommendation be followed. Depending on the service, either TGA, TGB, TGCH, TGCE or more specific aircraft-turbine lubricants can be used. This classification also excludes the products intended for the lubrication of wind turbines. The gear lubricants used in wind turbines are described in ISO 6743-6 and specified in ISO 12925-1.

Lubricants, industrial oils and related products (class L) -- Classification -- Part 6: Family C (Gears)

This part of ISO 6743 establishes the detailed classifrcation of family C (gears) which belongs to class L (Lubri-ants, industrial oils and related products). It should be read in conjunction with ISO 6743-0. This part of ISO 6743 is concerned only with lubricants for industrial gears. Lubricants for motor vehicle gears may be included in a future edition. To establish this classification, two essential series of Parameters have been taken into account, one including the environment and the other considering the tooth operating conditions. These Parameters are explained in annex A.

It includes only those products the main function of which is to ensure temporary protection, the word “temporary” being relevant not to time-limit product efficiency but to the capacity for removal of the product after a certain time. This classification excludes products that are applied for other purposes but also ensure temporary protection. Vapour-phase inhibitors and other chemical products that differ from petroleum products in behaviour are also excluded. This classification applies to protection of both bare metals and coated metals (painted metallic surfaces, car bodies, etc.). In addition, corrosion is regarded

Lubricants, industrial oils and related products (class L) -- Classification -- Part 9: Family X (Greases)

This part of ISO 6743 establishes a detailed classification of family X (Greases) which belongs to class L (Lubricants, industrial oils and related products). It should be read in conjunction with ISO 6743-99. This classification applies to categories of greases used for lubrication of equipment, components of machines, vehicles, etc. The greases have been classified according to the operating conditions under which they are used, because the versatile nature of grease makes it impractical to classify them according to the end use. It will therefore be necessary to consult the supplier to be certain that the grease can be used in, for example, rolling bearings or pumped supply systems, and also concerning the compatibility of products. In this classification, a grease cannot have more than one symbol. This symbol should correspond to the most severe conditions of temperature, water contamination and load in which the grease can be used. NOTE This part of ISO 6743 does not pretend
