This European Standard specifies equipment and procedures for determining the behaviour of products under a force applied to a small area of a test specimen at a given speed. It is applicable to thermal insulating products. This European Standard can be used to determine whether the products have sufficient strength to withstand forces applied directly to them either during installation or during application, mainly caused by pedestrian traffic. NOTE The test methods given in the main body of the standard and in Annex A are reported and interpreted in different ways. The similarities that exist between the methods are not sufficient to permit reasonable comparisons to be made.

Electromechanical contactors for household and similar purposes

This International Standard applies to electromechanical air break contactors for household and similar purposes provided with main contacts intended to be connected to circuits the rated voltage of which does not exceed 440 V a.c. with rated operational currents less than or equal to 63 A for utilization category AC-7a and 32 A for utilization category AC-7b, and rated conditional short-circuit current less than or equal to 6 kA. The contactors dealt with in this standard are not normally designed to interrupt short-circuit currents. Therefore, suitable short-circuit protection (see 9.3.4) shall form part of the installation. This standard does not apply to: contactors complying with IEC 60947-4-1; semiconductor contactors; contactors designed for special applications; auxiliary contacts of contactors. These are dealt with in IEC 60947-5-1. This standard states: 1) The characteristics of contactors. 2) The conditions with which contactors shall comply with reference to: a) their operation and behaviour; b) their dielectric properties; c) the degrees of protection provided by their enclosures, where applicable; d) their construction; e) their electromagnetic compatibility characteristics. 3) The tests intended for confirming that these conditions have been met, and the methods to be adopted for these tests. 4) The test sequences and the number of samples to be submitted for certification purpose. 5) The information to be given with contactors or in the manufacturer’s literature

This standard applies to connecting devices with insulation piercing clamping units primarily suitable for connecting insulated unprepared conductors. In the connecting operation the insulation of the conductor is pierced, bored through, cut through, removed, displaced or made ineffective in some other manner at the point or points of contact. This Part 2-1 is intended to be used in conjunction with IEC 60998-1. It was established on the basis of the second edition (2002) of that standard. This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition published in 1991 and constitutes a technical revision. The contents of the corrigendum of November 2006 have been included in this copy.

This International Standard applies to twist-on connecting devices for connecting two or more unprepared rigid and/or flexible copper conductors having a cross-sectional area of 0,5 mm2 up to and including 16 mm2 and complying with IEC 60228, the total cross-sectional area of the connected conductors not exceeding 35 mm2. Heat exchangers - Terminology

The scope of this European Standard is to establish heat exchanger terminology so that consistent terms are used. For the purposes of this European Standard a heat exchanger is a device, the main function of which is to transfer heat between two fluids, with physical separation by a wall. Heat exchange between a fluid and a solid material (in the case of ovens in particular) is therefore excluded.
